The Digicel Cup may be on its way to Pora Oval in Wewak in 2021 after the Sepik Pride Digicel Cup bid and the Hela Wigmen renewed their partnership.

The partnership will see at least one of the Hela Wigmen’s home games in 2021 moved to North-East Papua New Guinea, subject to approval from the PNGNRL and the Office of the Pandemic Controller.

The PNGNRL and the Office of the Pandemic Controller will determine whether it is safe for a match to be moved to Pora Oval, as well what matches will take place outside of Port Moresby in 2021.

The Hela Wigmen first formed a partnership with the Pride in 2020, and have been helping support the local leagues across the East and West Sepik Provinces.

The Sepik Pride Digicel Cup bid team was established to provide opportunities for players in East and West Sepik to participate in the PNG National Rugby League competition.

Following an unsuccessful bid in 2021, the team is now focusing on securing admission into the PNG NRL for 2022.
