PNGRFL acting CEO Stanley Hondina in a short media statement said approval to travel was granted by the Queensland Health Authorities early this afternoon.
“It’s great news for us all to finally get the approval for the SP Hunters players and officials to travel to Queensland,” Hondina said. “They will depart Port Moresby in a chartered aircraft for Brisbane at 2pm this Sunday February 7, 2021.”
“At 5pm this afternoon, as per our application and approval requirement, the travelling party is doing the PCR basic covid testing and will be in isolation for the next 72 hours before they board the flight” PNG LNG “This is part of the strict requirements they have to fulfil pre travel to Queensland and post arrival in Brisbane,” Hondina said.
He said Prime Minster James Marape, Sports Minister Wesley Raminai and Australian High Commissioner to PNG HE Mr Jon Philip will be at the airport on Sunday at 1pm to farewell the team.
