Fiji’s premier domestic competition, the Vodafone Cup, is set to expand in 2021, with the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) inviting clubs from around the Pacific nation to apply.

After a record 24 teams took part in the 2020 season, the FNRL has confirmed that up to eight new teams will be invited to take part this year, with registrations open until January 25.

The proposed competition format would see teams split into two conferences of 16 based around Nadi and Suva respectively. All teams within the respective conference would play each other before the Finals.

Whilst registrations have only just opened, the FNRL has already received applications from new teams, the Fiji Navy, Laselase Roosters, Kinoya and Nawaka to join the competition, and from 2019 participants, the Vatukoro Titans and Lautoka Crushers to return.
