Whilst all Rugby League competitions are on hold due to COVID-19, it hasn’t stopped the formation of the new Rugby League club in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The Rio de Janeiro Sharks join the Rio Warriors as the two Rugby League teams in the region, with the Sharks set to represent all Fluminenses across the State of Rio de Janeiro in the upcoming Brasilian National Championships, whilst the Warriors continue to focus on the national capital.

The State of Rio de Janeiro encompasses cities including the capital, São Gonçalo, Duque de Caxias and Nova Iguaçu.

The Sharks are exclusively focused on introducing Rugby League across the region and will feature both Men’s and Women’s teams.
