The Avatiu Eels continue to be the surprise packet of the 2020 Cook Islands Rugby League Raro Cars Premier League competition after they continued their undefeated start to the season, defeating the Tupapa Maraerenga Panthers 28 – 20 at Victoria Park.
Boosted by the recruitment of Papuan New Guinean players, Mafu Kalas, Towari Kenake and Martin Yanda, the Eels remain the only undefeated team in the competition, collecting big wins over the Panthers and Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles in recent weeks.
In the other Premier League match played over the weekend, current defending champions Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles overcame Arorangi Bears 28-20.
In the Women’s clash, Town defeated Country 32 – 0.
