The Eastern Eagles sit just one game away from qualifying for their first South African Provincial Championship Final after the Eastern Cape representative team secured a 42 – 32 win over the Mpumalanga Panthers in Pretoria last weekend.

The last round win not only helped secure the Eagles spot in the Semi Finals, but will see the side host the all important Semi Final this weekend where they will go head to head again with the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Champions, Mpumalanga.

In the other Semi Final, defending Jan Prinsloo Cup holders, the Northern Bulls (Gauteng), will face a Northern Bulls Invitational team in Pretoria.

Both Semi Finals will take place this Saturday before the Provincial Championship Final takes place on February 1.

The other participants, the North West Warthogs and Limpopo Bisons finished their season last Saturday, with the Warthogs running out 36 – 28 winners.

The South African Provincial Championship started in 2009/10.
