A Sukpahl Mahli hat-trick has helped the Jungle Cats secure a debut win as the Indian National Rugby League team ran out 30 – 16 victors over Colombia in Brisbane on Sunday.

The Woolgoolga Seahorses centre was one of four try scorers for the Indian team as they surprised the more experienced Colombian Condores at W.J. Scott Park in an exciting and free-flowing game of Rugby League.

Kicking off at the home of the East Tigers Juniors, the newly formed Jungle Cats started the match strongly, scoring three quick tries to take a 16 – 0 lead in the opening quarter of the game and shock the Condores outfit.

Colombia hit back in the 21st minute to make it 16 – 6, before the Jungle Cats scored another try just before halftime to lead 22 – 6 before the break.

India would cross twice more before the end of the game, whilst Andrew Zuluaga would finish off with a hat-trick for a determined Colombian side.
