The Tupapa Maraerenga Panthers have started their title defence in impressive fashion, winning their opening two encounters of the season to sit at the top of the 2019 Cook Islands First Division ladder.

The Panthers impressive start included a tight 26 – 14 win over the Avatiu Nikao Eels in the opening round before a record 80 – 6 victory over an inexperienced Takuvaine Warriors side last weekend.

The Panthers are joined by two other undefeated sides, with the Arorangi Bears and Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles also enjoying strong starts to their 2019 campaigns.
