The Northern Hemisphere has taken out the inaugural Hong Kong Rugby League Women’s Battle of the Hemisphere Nines after winning the third and deciding match 26 – 12 on the weekend.

The three game series, which was the first formal Women’s Rugby League competition run in Asia, had come to a decider after the North had won the inaugural game 15 – 5 before the Southern Hemisphere hit back with a 30 – 6 win in the second.

Taking place at King’s Park in Kowloon, Hong Kong in the lead up to the Hong Kong Super League Grand Final, the Northern Hemisphere Women were too strong in a tense nine-a-side hitout.

Based upon the success of the series the Hong Kong Rugby League has started recruiting for the 2019 season with the aims of expanding the Women’s offering.

The Battle of the Hemisphere concept sees players split based upon their place of Origin and has been part of the Hong Kong Rugby League Representative calendar for three years now.
