Saturday May 19, 2018 will go down as one of the more significant days in Argentina’s short Rugby League history following the highly successful Primer Torneo Rugby League Entre Rios tournament held in Concordia.

In what was the first competitive domestic tournament held in the South American country, the festival featured teams from Concordia, San Jose and Paysandu in Uruguay, the event featured Men’s and Juniors matches, including a historic International Representative match between Paysandu and an Entre Rios selection.

The International Representative fixture, known as the Copa Rio de La Pata, saw the Entre Rios XIII run out 60 – 10 victors, with the Entre Rios team made up of players from the Aguaraces Gladiatores, Concordia Piranhas and Club Union De Villa Jardin.

The Paysandu side was made up of players from the Paysandu Mulitas Rugby club, plus Uruguayan players from the Entre Rios based clubs.

In the main Juniors fixture played on the day, the Aguaraces Gladiatores defeated the Concordia Piranhas 8 – 0, whilst a series of training clinics were also run for kids around Concordia.
