The Confederación Argentina de Rugby League (CARL) has this week confirmed it’s expanded domestic and international programme for 2018.

Kicking off in May, the newly formed Federación Entre Ríos Rugby League (FEERL) will host a series of nine-a-side matches across the province in what is set to be the first formal domestic competition held in Argentina.

Following the completion of the Torneo de la FERRL, the best players from Entre Rios will be selected to play against a Rest of Argentina select in June a full 13-a-side clash before an Argentinan XIII will take on a Uruguay XIII in August.

The Rest of Argentina select will be drafted from players in the various other CARL Rugby League clubs and Federations across Argentina, including in and around Buenos Aires.

The Argentinian Women’s National team will play their first ever full international against Brazil in Curitiba, Paraná in early November, whilst the Men’s side will play in a Tri-Series later that month.

The Women’s International, set to take place on November 3, follows on from last year’s inaugural Women’s International Nines series between Argentina and Chile, and will be the first full Women’s international played in Latin America. As a curtain raiser to the game, the Entre Rios XIII will also travel to Curitiba to play a Brazilian Development squad.

Finally, to cap off a significant year for Argentinian Rugby League, the Men’s National team will head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take on the Brazilian and Colombian national teams in a Tri-Series on November 24.
