Malta and Hungary will come together next month at St Marys Rugby League Club in this exciting prelude to the Rugby League Emerging Nations World Championship

Kicking off the 2018 International campaign, the Malta camp will be led by coaches Peter Cassar and Aaron McDonald.

Commenting on the season ahead, Cassar said at today’s announcement “We’re proud of the success we enjoyed last year, but we’re looking for a lot of improvement from the group”.

McDonald backed up those sentiments telling his players to forget about the last game “Every game we play is going to be tough and we need to have high standards for our own performances”

Malta’s manager David Axisa added “We’re very grateful to St Marys who are providing the facilities and also to Magyar Ligarögbi Szövetség for accepting the invitation. They’ll be well tuned after their hit out against the Philippines on the Gold Coast two weeks beforehand”

Hungary are on the rise. One of the fastest climbers reaching 29th in the RLIF rankings last month.

They will be looking to put things right after being on wrong end of a 48-16 scoreline when the two nations last met at New Era Stadium in October last year.
