The Solomon Islands are the latest nation to commit to the upcoming Emerging Nations World Championship tournament which is scheduled for Sydney next October / November.
In what will be the third iteration of the International Development tournament, the Emerging Nations World Championship is designed to provide an opportunity for Tier Two and Three nations to take part in a major Rugby League tournament.
The 2018 iteration of the event will be the largest on record, with as many as sixteen nations set to take part. The Solomon Islands will join Canada, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Philippines, Thailand and fellow Pacific Island nations of Niue and Vanuatu as confirmed participants.
First held in 1995, the Emerging Nations World Championship has previously featured representatives from ten nations, with six since qualifying for a Rugby League World Cup.
Further details around the tournament, including the remaining participants, venues and more will be announced in early 2018.
