The Malta Rugby League (MRL) has confirmed that the Malta Knights will play two International Rugby League matches in Sydney this October.

Following on from their Phoenician Cup clash against Lebanon earlier this year, the Knights will play two additional Northern Hemisphere opponents in the lead up to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

“Our supporters in Sydney have been outstanding for us this year. The period between the NRL – National Rugby League Grand Final and the Rugby League World Cup was a window of opportunity that presented itself and we simply couldn’t ignore it” Manager David Axisa commented at the announcement of the upcoming matches.

The first match will see the Knights take on the Italian Azzurri on Sunday, October 8. The match will be the first time the two nations have clashed in eight years and will be an important match in the Azzurri’s preparations for RLWC2017.

The second match will be on Saturday, October 14 when the Malta Knights take on the Hungary Bulls.

This game will take place at the New Era Stadium in Cabramatta in what will be part of a festival of Rugby League at the venue.
