The Ermelo Tomahawks and Kriel Roosters have opened the 2017 Mpumalanga Cup competition with wins over the weekend.
Kicking off at Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo, the Tomahawks started their 2017 campaign in the same way they finished 2016 with a dominant performance over the Witbank Vipers, running out 60 – 16 winners.
In the other match, the Kriel Roosters ran out convincing 70 – 32 winners over the Middelburg Broncos at Kriel High School.
In the Gauteng competition, the University of Pretoria Tuks (Reds) continued their winning ways running out 62 – 20 winners over the Silverton Silverbacks, whilst the Johannesburg based Mustangs ran out 48 – 30 winners over the Eru Spartans.
The South Central Rabbitohs defeated the other ‘Tuks’ team whilst the Bears won by default over the Scorpions after they forfeited their clash.
