Los Angeles in Chile has been confirmed as the hosts for the upcoming Rugby League’s Latin American Championship this November.

The tournament, which will feature representatives teams from Argentina, Mexico, Colombia plus hosts, Chile, will build on the Torneo Sudamericano held in Argentina last year.

Taking place on November 17 / 18, the tournament will see each side play a minimum of two full internationals to decide the regional champions.

Players for the Argentinian, Mexican and Chilean sides will be predominately made up of local players from the respective leagues in the three Latin American countries, whilst Colombia will have the benefit of being able to draw from both their own domestic ranks, plus the newly formed Antofagasta Nativos.

The Nativos are based out of the Chilean Port City of Antofagasta and are a joint partnership between the Futbol 13 A Chile, Colombia Rugby League XIII, YMCA and the Colectividad De Colombianos Residentes En Antofagasta, focusing on introducing Rugby League to the significant Colombian ex-patriot community in the city.

Argentina won the Primer Torneo Sudamericano, held in Miramar, Argentina last year, defeating Chile 16 – 0 in the Final.

Fixtures for the Latin American Championship will be announced closer to the event.
