The Fiji National Rugby League has elected a new chairman to take over the running of the sport for the next 12 months.

Filimoni Vosarogo who is a lawyer by profession will lead the sport in the country.

“I acknowledge the work done by the former board under the chairmanship of Reverend Immanuel Reuben,”

“They have laid a platform for the year and it will be on the new board to implement these strategies and also to add value to some of the plans in place.

“They (board members) will also be responsible in putting together strategies that will ensure the growth of the sport and most importantly development and grooming of champions in our league” Vosarogo commented to the Fiji Times following his appointment.

Vosarogo’s promotion to Chairman follows a year of serving on the board of the FNRL. Following the announcement, the FNRL will meet next month to outline the plans and activities for the year.

“This is the exciting time for rugby league as the board announced today brings with them wealth of experience and from a diversified background.

“My first role as the chairman is to convene a board meeting on August 8 to discuss plans already in place and see how best we can implement these in collaboration with key stakeholders and our sponsors.”
